Jalen Perteet is the recipient of the Bulldog Award for the 2019 McAdams football team. Coach Kenneth Nelson said the Bulldogs Award is essentially an MVP.
The Bulldog Award was one of seven announced by Nelson for football. Powerlifting is the only other McAdams sport to announce award recipients for the 2019-20 school year..
Perteet, a junior, played running back and linebacker for the Bulldogs. He carried 56 times for 303 yards and four touchdowns and caught eight passes for 59 yards and one TD. On defense, he was credited with 82 tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

— Johnatvis Rimmer, most outstanding offensive player; Tayveon Rimmer, most outstanding defensive player; Tromone Bailey, most improved offensive player; Likarius Ward, most improved defensive player; Lewis Latiker, best offensive lineman; Percy Lewis, best defensive lineman.
Johnatvis Rimmer, a junior, played quarterback for the Bulldogs. He passed for 509 yards and four touchdowns and carried 94 times for 508 yards and five TDs. He also played defensive back, with two interceptions.
Tayveon Rimmer, a junior linebacker, led the Bulldogs in tackles with 121. As a running back he had 53 carries for 365 yards.
Bailey, a junior running back and defensive back, had a team leading 790 rushing yards on 94 carries (8.4 average), with nine touchdowns. On defense, he had 25 tackles, three sacks and four fumble recoveries.
— Ward was a senior running back and linebacker. He had 58 tackles, with a team leading totals of 12 for losses and seven sacks. He carried 46 times for 193 yards.
Lewis, a senior, and Latiker, a junior, were two-way linemen. Lewis had 90 tackles, with five for losses, three sacks and five forced fumbles. Latiker had 82 tackles, four for losses, two sacks and three fumble recoveries.
McAdams finished 6-6 and qualified for the 1A playoffs by finishing fourth in the nine team Region 3-1A with a 5-3 record. The seven award recipients all played key roles in the biggest win of the season, 20-16 over Simmons, that enabled the Bulldogs to make the playoffs.
Perteet had eight carries for 37 yards and a TD and led the defensive effort that blanked Simmons in the second half with 12 tackles. Johnatvis Rimmer ran for 145 yards and two TDs and had an interception. Tayveon Rimmer had an interception that he returned 50 yards, setting up the Bulldogs' first TD, and seven tackles. Bailey carries four times for 21 yards, had five tackles and recovered two fumbles.
Ward had five tackles, one behind the line. Lewis and Latiker both had nine tackles and on offense paved the way for 204 running yards on a wet field. Lewis signed as a defensive lineman with Gulf Coast Community College, the defensive junior college national champion.
Nelson also coaches boys and girls powerlifting. Bulldog awards went to Bailey for the boys and Dermeria Moore for the girls.
Both teams enjoyed outstanding success, but were prevented from competing for a state championship when the COVID-19 pandemic cut the season short. The Bulldogs had seven of the 11 individual champions in winning Region 3-1A, while the Lady Bulldogs won South State for Class I (1A and 2A schools).
Bailey moved from the gridiron to indoors for powerlifting and won the 165-pound weight class at the region meet in his first year competing in the sport with a total of 1,000 pounds for the squat, bench press and dead lift.
Other boys receiving awards were Jimmy Wilson, most outstanding lightweight lifter; Latiker, most outstanding heavyweight lifter and Malique Greer, most improved lifter.
Wilson won 132 at the region meet with lifting totaling 790 pounds, Ward won 181 (1,000 pounds) and Greer won 275 (1,110 pounds).
Moore was runner-up to teammate Shawnessy Martin at South State for 165 with lifts totaling 445.
Other girls award recipients were Amber Moore, outstanding lightweight lifter; Martin, outstanding heavyweight lifter; and Danielle Smith, most improved lifter.
Harmon won 105 (170 pounds), Martin totaled 680 to win 165 and Smith won 242 with a total of 645.
