Some teams will see changes in classes and/or regions next year as a result of Mississippi High School Activities Association reclassification, but not Kosciusko football, boys and girls basketball. Those teams will remain in 4-4A for the next two years with the same five opponents – Choctaw Central, Leake Central, Louisville, Northeast Lauderdale and West Lauderdale.Ethel, McAdams and French Camp will remain 1A. But for football McAdams will move from South State to North State, French Camp from North State to South State and all three will see some new region opponents.The Mississippi High School Activities Association conducts reclassification every two years based upon student enrollment in grades 9 through 12. Some schools change classes and regions are altered. The 32 largest schools comprise 6A. There are 33 schools in 5A, 45 each in 4A, 3A and 2A and 43 in 1A.McAdams football moves from 3-1A to 2-1A. Coffeeville, McEvans, Simmons, West Bolivar and West Tallahatchie remain as Bulldog opponents, joined by Coldwater and South Delta. South Delta, McEvans, West Bolivar and West Tallahatchie opted out of fall sports this year due to the pandemic.Ethel remains in 3-1A and French Camp moves from 2-1A to 3-1A. They will be joined in the region by Hamilton, Noxapater, Vardaman, West Lowndes. Leake County and Sebastopol. Current French Camp opponents Nanih Waiya, Tupelo Christian, Smithville and Okolona will not be in the region.Interestingly, Nanih Waiya, the two-time defending 1A champion, moves up to 2A as a member of 5-2A, while Taylorsville, winner of two of the last three 2A titles, moves down to 1A as a member of 4-1A. Ethel, McAdams, French Camp and Noxapater basketball move from 5-1A to 6-1A. They will have two new opponents with Leake County and Sebastopol replacing Nanih Waiya and West Lowndes, last season’s 5-1A champion for both boys and girls.MHSAA also announced new regions for volleyball, soccer, cross country, swimming and bowling.In volleyball, Kosciusko remains in 4-4A. The current three-team region with Louisville and Yazoo City will expand to four with the addition of Greenwood.Ethel and McAdams both played volleyball for the first time this year. Ethel was in 5-1A with Noxapater and Nanih Waiya, while McAdams was the only school in 6-1A that fielded a team. Ethel will remain in 5-1A with Noxapater and West Lowndes and McAdams will remain in 6-1A, joined by Sebastopol and MSD.Kosciusko boys and girls soccer will move from 3-4A to 4-4A. Region opponents will be Choctaw Central, Louisville, Newton County, Northeast Lauderdale and West Lauderdale. In cross country, it will also be 4-4A for Kosciusko with Choctaw Central, Leake Central, Newton County, Northeast Lauderdale, Quitman and West Lauderdale.Ethel, McAdams and French Camp will be in 5-1A for cross country with Leake County, Noxapater and Sebastopol.French Camp does not have volleyball, French Camp, Ethel and McAdams do not have soccer teams and none of the schools participate in bowling or swimming.Kosciusko is the eighth largest 4A school with 627 students. The class runs from Stone County and Laurel with 709 students to Quitman with 461.Among the 43 1A schools, Ethel is 12th largest with 168 students, French Camp is tied with two others for 24th with 145 students and McAdams is 36th with 118 students.
