Leake Central was the boys winner at the Bulldogs Invitational powerlifting meet hosted by McAdams, with individual winners in seven of the 11 weight classes. Leake Central has 60 points, Leake County 40, Jim Hill 34 and McAdams 29.

Jasmine Bonty had a double-double in each game as the French Camp girls basketball team won twice with victories over Hebron Christian 48-37 and Winona 55-32.

The Panthers defeated Hebron but lost to Winona.

Lewis takes 1A All-State honors

McAdams senior Percy Lewis has been named to the 1A All-State first team as a defensive tackle.

Lewis, 6-8 and 320 pounds, was a two-way lineman for the Bulldogs. He was credited with 90 tackles, including five for losses and three sacks.

Lewis is also first team on defense and second team offense on the 3-1A all region team.

The MHSAA football championship games last Friday and Saturday at the University of Southern Mississippi M.M. Roberts Stadium had a little bit of a local flavor as French Camp Academy graduate James Courtney led his Nanih Waiya Warriors to its second consecutive MHSAA Class 1A State Championship.
