Dawn Adcock, 53, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Anderson Hospital in Meridian.
Funeral services were 11:00 am Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel in Kosciusko with burial following at Kosciusko City Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at Culpepper Funeral Home. Brad Adcock officiated.
Dawn is survived by her husband Erick Adcock, daughter Lacey Adcock (Jason), mother Brenda McDaniel, and brother Bucky Stonestreet (Jennifer).

Aiden Cheek, a junior at Central Holmes Christian School and Attala County resident, served as a page in the Mississippi House of Representatives during the 2026 legislative session. Cheek, 16, of Kosciusko, is the son of Randolph and Christy Cheek and was sponsored by Speaker Jason White while working on the House floor, assisting lawmakers and observing the legislative process. “Paging was pretty fun,” Cheek said. “I will most likely be back next year.”

Attala County officials joined lawmakers and county leaders from across Mississippi this week for the 2026 annual Mid-Winter Legislative Conference, held in Flowood. State Rep. Jason White, Speaker of the Mississippi House of Representatives, met with Attala County supervisors during the multi-day conference, which focused on county operations, legislative priorities, and emerging policy issues affecting local governments.

The Northeast Mississippi Community College football program boosted the talent on its roster during national signing day.
The Tigers added 23 new players to their lineup on Wednesday, February 4. Northeast also brought in three mid-year signees as part of its 2026 recruiting class.
“Our coaching staff did a phenomenal job all season long,” said Tigers headman Greg Davis. “We feel like we did a wonderful job. We got guys in the boat early.”

The Question
An American woman stands with her hand over her heart, singing and weeping with joy, as our national anthem is played to honor her for winning her Olympic race. Her competition was against sports teams from other countries. She is being honored for representing our country. Perhaps in the back of her mind is a realization that some time in the past, one of her ancestors came to this country, settled, worked hard, raised a family, and that she inherited the work ethic that made her victory possible.
