LITTLE ROCK — The $12 billion promised by U.S. President Donald J. Trump in December 2025 will be in farmers’ hands no later than Feb. 28, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced earlier this month.
The payments, which are part of the Farmer Bridge Assistance program, are intended to help cover growers’ debts and expenses until funds from the Farm Safety Net Program are available in October, said Hunter Biram, extension agricultural economist for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.

Bingo night lit up Dumas last week, bringing neighbors together for an evening of fun, prizes, and connection. Families, friends, and residents of all ages filled the hall, eagerly marking their cards and celebrating each shouted “Bingo!”
Bingo’s appeal goes beyond simple games. Its accessibility—low cost, easy-to-learn rules, and inclusive nature—has made it a favorite pastime for generations. “It’s a game for everyone,” said one participant. “It doesn’t matter your age, background, or experience—you can play and have fun.”

When it comes to the use of cellphones in public school classrooms, Mississippi is behind the curve compared to the rest of the country.
The Newsweek website reports that 26 states, including every single one in the South other than Mississippi, have a “bell-to-bell” ban on students using a cellphone, meaning from the beginning of a school day’s first class to the end of the last one.
