The Central Holmes girls won two out of three games this past week.
The Lady Trojans fell to Winona Christian 45-27 but rebounded to beat Indianola 50-48 and Benton 39-29.
The Trojans dropped a pair of tight games in district play as they fell 69-60 to Winona Christian and 43-40 to Indianola. The Trojans then took a 73-28 win over Benton Academy.
Central Holmes only had one game this week against Winona Christian. The junior high district tournament will be Thursday and Saturday at Carroll Academy. The varsity district tournament will be the next week at Winona Christian.
Winona Christian girls 45, Central Holmes 27
The Lady Stars built an early lead and cruised to an 18-point win over the Lady Trojans.
Winona jumped out to a 17-7 lead and then outscored Central Holmes 20-9 in the second period to lead 37-16 at the half. Winona took the third period 8-0 and led 45-16 before Central Holmes outscored the Lady Stars 9-0 in the fourth for the final margin.
Kate Riley led Central Holmes with 11 points.
In the junior high game, Central Holmes won 23-15 as Allie McBride had 13 points.
Winona Christian boys 68, Central Holmes 60
The Stars used a big second period and took an eight-point win over the Trojans on Tuesday.
Each team scored 17 points in the first period before Winona Christian outscored Central Holmes 19-11 in the second period to lead 36-28 at the half. Central Holmes took the third period 17-15 and each team scored 15 points in the fourth for the final margin.
John Word had a big game for Central Holmes with 26 points while John Ward had 15 points.
Central Holmes girls 39, Benton 29
The Lady Trojans used a big second period and took a 10-point win over the Lady Raiders.
Each team scored five points in the first period and the Lady Trojans outscored the Lady Raiders 19-6 in the second and led 24-11 at the half. Benton took the third period 3-2 and the fourth 15-13 for the final margin.
Allie McBride led Central Holmes with 17 points while Taylor Spell had 11 points.
In the junior high game, Benton won 35-23 as Allie McBride and Lydia Killebrew each had five points apiece.
Central Holmes boys 73, Benton 28
The Trojans outscored the Raiders in every period and cruised to a 45-point win on Friday.
Central Holmes led 18-2 at the end of the first and outscored Benton 22-11 to lead 40-13 at the half. Central Holmes continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring Benton 20-12 in the third and 13-3 in the fourth.
John Word led Central Holmes with 16 points while Bryce Hester had 11 points and nine rebounds. John Ward also had nine points.
