CHCS playing best ball as district tourney looms

With the district tournament right around the corner, the Central Holmes basketball teams seem to be playing their best basketball.
The Trojans picked up two big wins last week as they beat Winona Christian 76-35 and then took a tight 58-54 win over Indianola.

CHCS Lady Trojans pick up three wins

The Central Holmes Lady Trojans had a productive week on the basketball court as they picked up three wins.

The Lady Trojans opened the week with a 55-38 win over Carroll Academy and then swept two games from Oak Hill, winning 73-48 on Wednesday and 71-43 on Friday.

The Winona Christian basketball teams each only got in one game last week as they dropped matches against Hillcrest Christian at the Canton Christmas Tournament.
The Winona girls fell 47-34 while the boys fell 81-25 to Hillcrest.

After a week off, first-year Central Holmes coach Mitch Womack hopes his team is ready for the Winona Christian Stars.

The Stars will roll into Lexington with a 2-0 record, fresh off a 22-14 last-second win over Winston Academy last week. Meanwhile the Trojans are 0-2 on the season and coming off a rain-soaked loss to East Rankin.
