The Ethel baseball team finished out the regular season this past week and is getting ready for the Class 1A playoffs after winning the Division 5-1A championship.
The Tigers lost 6-0 to Choctaw County on Tuesday and then beat Sebastopol 4-0 on Thursday.
Ethel moves to 17-10 on the season and win the 5-1A championship with an undefeated record in division play.
Choctaw County 6, Ethel 0
The Chargers scored four runs in the first inning and allowed just one hit in a shutout win over the Tigers on Tuesday.
After the four-run first, Choctaw added single runs win the fourth and fifth innings.
Ethel had just one hit as Gabe Cain tripled.
Wes Bishop started on the mound and pitched 2/3 of an inning, giving up four runs on three hits and two walks. Cain pitched the next 2 2/3 innings and gave up one unearned run on two hits and one walk while striking out five. Brady White pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up one unearned run on two hits while striking out three. Hunter Hutchinson pitched the final inning and didn’t give up a hit.
Ethel 4, Sebastopol 0
The Tigers took had only two hits but squeaked out a shutout win over the Bobcats on Thursday to end the regular season for both squads.
Ethel scored one in the third and fourth and finished with two in the sixth.
Ethel had just two hits but drew three walks and took advantage to two errors and two hit batters. Brady White was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored while Kadan Adams was hit twice and scored two runs. Wes Bishop also scored a run while Ethan Bishop had two RBIs.
Adams pitched all seven innings and scattered three hits and two walks while striking out seven to pick up the win.
