The Ethel Tigers (1-2, 0-1) dropped a 42-6 decision to Noxapater (1-3) on Friday night to move to 0-1 in Region 3-1A play. Noxapater jumped on the Tigers quickly taking a 7-0 first quarter lead and a 21-0 lead into halftime.
Noxapater led 35-0 after three quarters before scoring their final touchdown in the fourth, pushing their final margin of victory to 42-6 over Ethel after the homestanding Tigers scored a late touchdown of their own.
The offensive leaders for Noxapater were running back Lapatrick Maul with 202 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns and quarterback James Stalcup, who was 6-of-12 through the air for 81 yards and two touchdowns.
Noxapater racked up 467 yards of total offense with 386 yards on the ground and 81 through the air. Defensively, Noxapater had six TFL’s in the contest and forced two fumbles and one interception.
Ethel will travel to Durant (0-3, 0-1) Friday night for another Region 3 contest matching up two teams struggling on both sides of the ball. On defense Durant gives up an average of 35 points per game while averaging 13 points per game while Ethel gives up 31 points per game, scoring only 6. The Region 3-1A tilt kicks at 7 p.m.
