The Ethel Lady Tigers increased their record to 7-1 on the season with two wins this past week over Ray Brooks 2-0 and Leake Central 13-4.
The Lady Tigers forgot their bats against Ray Brooks and could not find a hit until Halea Wood had two clutch single late in the contest. Wood and Alyson Pritchard both had RBI singles to lead the way for the Lady Tigers in the 2-0 win. Pitching and strong defense stayed consistent to keep the winning streak alive.
Against Leake Central the Lady Tigers made sure the bats were on the bus as they pounded out 10 hits in their 13-4 win. Erin Watkins got the win for the Lady Tigers by going seven strong innings. In the hitting department Sidney Rone got the early knockout blow with a three-run double. Carlye Pender, Avery Bouchillon and Jessica Mitchell all had multiple hits in the game. Brooklyn Pitts, Clarissa Smith, Watkins and Breanna Blaine all had RBI singles. Madison Odom also played well for the Lady Tigers.
The Lady Tigers are traveling to Ray Brooks on Thursday before returning home again next Tuesday at 4 p.m. against Attala County rival McAdams.
“We’re having a hard time putting all three phases of the game together,” said Ethel head coach Chris Schuster. “We’re winning games on talent and not because we are playing well. We need to clean it up before long or we are likely to get beat. It’s good to have a team that can make mistakes and still win, but sooner or later we will run into somebody that will take advantage of that.”
