The Attala County School Board approved coaches for Ethel High School and Junior High School at its April meeting, but eight vacancies remain.
School principal Culley Newman said the vacancies will be filled by the beginning of the school year. “We will have people in these positions,” he said. “We just have to see how things pan out by the end of summer.”
He said vacancies could be filled by coaches already on staff.
Vacancies are for high school football assistant, junior high football head coach, high school boys basketball assistant, junior high boys basketball head coach, high school softball assistant coach, junior high softball head coach and high school and junior high cheer coach.
Corey Parish was approved as athletic director, high school girls head basketball, junior high school girls head basketball, high girls school head track, and boys and girls high school powerlifting.
Other coaches are as follows: Adam Smith, high school head football; Mitchell McCurry, head high school boys basketball, head high school boys track and high school football assistant; Jason McCuller, head junior high baseball and assistant high school football; Chance Whitten, head high school boys and girls cross country and high school baseball assistant; Casey Johnson, assistant high school girls basketball; Chris Schuster, head high school baseball and head high school volleyball; Tyler McKinney, head high school softball and Shayne Elsner, assistant high school volleyball.
