The McAdams girls powerlifting team won the Class 1, Region 3 meet with four individual champions and nine lifters who qualified for the South State meet.
McAdams finished with 51 points. Noxapater was runner-up with 42 points, followed by Heidelberg 35, Leake County 28 and Scott Central 27.
Individual winners for McAdams, their weight classes and total weight lifted for the squat, bench press and dead lift: Kiyah Harmon, 114, 460 pounds; Kristal Wilson, 132, 525 pounds; Shawnessy Martin, 165, 640 pounds and Daniell Smith, 242, 595 pounds.
Noxapater also had four individual champions, but four seconds and one third enabled McAdams to win the team title. The top three in each weight class qualify for the South State meet March 7 at West Lincoln. That meet will qualify lifters for the April 18 state meet at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.
McAdams' other qualifiers are Amber Harmon, second at 105 with 405 pounds; Miche' Barron, second at 132 with 455 pounds; Iyania Malone, second at 148 with 535 pounds; Jamirakle Nash, second at 220 with 550 pounds; and Dermeria Moore, third 165 with 420 pounds.
