The new MHSAA reclassifications were recently released for fall sports and it will be effective for the 2017-19 school years and there have been several changes for area schools. In football the Kosciusko Whippets will still play in Region 4-4A with Leake Central, Louisville and Noxubee County. Former Region 2-5A New Hope will now be in Region 4-4A with the Whippets while Houston moves to Region 4-3A and Caledonia moves to Region 2-4A.
The McAdams Bulldogs, who were in Region 3-1A, will play football in Region 2-1A with Coffeeville, Broad St., Durant, JFK, Montgomery County, Ray Brooks, Shaw and Simmons. The Ethel Tigers will remain in Region 3-1A with French Camp, Leake County, Nanih Waiya, Noxapater and Sebastopol with newcomers Vardaman, Hamilton and West Lowndes who were in Region 1-1A.
The basketball classifications for the Whippets will be the same as football while the McAdams Bulldogs, French Camp Panthers and Ethel Tigers will compete in Region 5-1A with Durant, Montgomery County and Coffeeville.
