Youth baseball, softball camps set this month
The highly successful Kosciusko High School fast-pitch softball and baseball teams will be seeking to pass their legacy along to young athletes through the rest of this month as they host youth baseball camps.
The Lady Whippets, fresh off their MHSAA Class 4A State Championship, will host camps on May 29-30. Those age 6 through 8 will take part from 8:30-11 a.m. each day, while those 9 through 12 will have their session from 12:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
The Kosciusko baseball team began its camp for Pre-K and first graders on Wednesday. It runs through Friday and is being held from 1-4:30 p.m.
The camp for second and third graders will be May 29-31 from 8-11:30 a.m., while the fourth through sixth-grade camp is 1-4:30 p.m. May 29-31.
Flanigan Basketball Camp set for June 18-21
Holmes Community College Head Men's Basketball Coach Jason Flanigan has set the 2018 Jason Flanigan Basketball Camp for June 18-21 on the Goodman Campus of Holmes Community College.
The Jason Flanigan Basketball Camp is a fun environment for players of all ages. Each player will learn the fundamentals of the game along with specialized instructions in shooting, playing defense, ball-handling skills and rebounding. Also, each player will take the skills that he/she has learned and apply them in fun, competitive areas such as one-on-one games, three-on-three, five-on-five, bump competition, slam dunk, hot shot and free throw contests.
The camp also features an expert staff of coaches and instructors dedicated to helping each player reach his or her full potential. The staff is comprised of former Ole Miss Players, Holmes CC staff and local high school coaches. Along with great instruction and fun, players will have the opportunity to utilize the same facilities the Holmes Bulldogs use.
Registration is set for June 18 from 8-9 a.m. at Frank Branch Coliseum in Goodman. Camp runs from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day. The camp is for ages seven through a senior in high school, both boys and girls.
The cost of the camp is $100.
