The McAdams boys basketball team is just one win away from another trip to the MHSAA Class 1A State Tournament in Jackson.
After easily dispatching Noxapater 89-50 last Tuesday, the Bulldogs needed every point as they beat Leake County 63-62 on Saturday night.
The Bulldogs are now 15-10 and are on a five game winning streak headed into a Thursday night match-up at West Lowndes (18-8) for the right to go to the Class 1A Final Four in Jackson.
The Lady Bulldogs saw their outstanding season come to a close 77-47 to Hamilton in the third round of the Class 1A playoffs.
McAdams' coach Michael Huffman said it just was not their night against a Hamilton team that improved to 22-2 on the season.
“Our shots didn’t fall early and we got early foul trouble and had to dig out,” Huffman said. “The loose balls went their way. When the loose balls aren’t going your way, it can be that kind of night. We give credit to Hamilton for playing their game. I am very proud of how we played. We didn’t excuse but we played hard to win the game and that’s how it goes some times. Their home court advantage was huge. That’s a tough place to play in.”
