The French Camp Academy girls basketball had a victory against J.Z. George and a loss to Pisgah. The boys lost both games.
The Lady Panthers made 22 of 32 shots from the floor in a 56-50 win over J.Z. George. French Camp led by 10 at the half, 31-21, but had to hold off a J.Z. George rally for the win.
“We had too many turnovers. That enabled them to catch up,” said Coach Priscilla Anderson.
Jasmine Bonty was 8 of 12 from the floor and scored 16 points. Madison Klein had 15 points on 7 of 12 shooting and Jordan Carter hit of 6 of 7 shots while scoring 14 points. Bonty had 16 rebounds, Kelin and Carter 10 each.
The Lady Panthers led early against Pisgah, but lost 41-36. “We got away from what we were doing and they caught up,” Anderson said. “We got tired.”
Klein had 16 points and Bonty 15.
BOYS
The Panthers lost to J.Z. George 54-49 and to Pisgah 65-46.
French Camp led most of the way against J.Z .George. “We just made some errors at the end,” said Coach Robert Leathers.
Everett Holland scored 15 points and Calvin Johnson had 14 for French Camp.
Pisgah outscored French Camp 22-7 in the second quarter. “We fell apart in the second quarter. That’s when we lost the game,” Leathers said.
Cameron Smith and Johnson had 11 points each and Holland scored 9.
“Sometimes, I feel like we’re an immature team. We haven’t won so we don’t know how to win. We’re going to get there. We have a lot of talent and I have a lot of faith in them.”
He complimented the play of Smith. “He has played well, especially on defense. He plays hard the whole game.”
The Panthers and Lady Panthers were set to play Nanih Waiya Tuesday and have a home game with Kosciusko, a 4A school, on Friday.
