Things just did not go well for Ethel on Friday night.
Central Holmes would strike early and often as the Trojans raced by the Tigers 42-7 on Friday night.
"Central Holmes is a good football team," said Ethel head coach Dave McCrory. "They are loaded and will be a tough game for anyone they play against."
The only Ethel touchdown was a 71-yard touchdown run by Izik Stewart. That was Stewart's only carry of the game and was the team's leading rusher.
The Tigers (0-2) only had 148 yards of total offense. Quarterback Reeves Threadgill went 2-for-8 passing for 31 yards with an interception.
"They ran the ball hard and the running back is hard to bring down," McCrory said. "They set the tempo and hit us in the mouth. We have to improve on defense."
Up next for Ethel is road trip to Hamilton (0-2).
The Lions have a new head coach in former Neshoba Central offensive coordinator Wade Pierce. Hamilton will be a run-heavy team and will lean on slot back B.J. Jones.
"Hamilton is a good team and are going through changes with a new coach and new system," McCrory said. "We are pretty evenly matched and they are looking for their first win just like we are. They run a lot of misdirection stuff that is hard to prepare for."
