The homestanding Ethel Tigers ran into a strong foe on Friday night as they dropped a Region 3-1A matchup to the Eagles of West Bolivar.
This week Ethel (0-9) travels to Noxapater (7-2) on Friday in a non-division game.
“Noxapater is a great program with great tradition and is a program we are trying to become,” Ethel head coach Dave McCrory said. “They have tough hard nose kids that fight hard.”
“West Bolivar is a good football team with rich tradition,” McCrory said. “They were fast, physical, strong, outran us and hit us in the mouth.”
Kyle Nabors had 46 yards rushing on 12 carries to lead the Tigers rushing attack.
Mike Miller had 27 yards rushing, while Cyrus Rone added 24 yards rushing for Ethel.
“I liked our guys’ effort and we are just being outgunned right now,” McCrory said. “We got three games left to keep improving and then we will go into the offseason and work to become the program we want to be. The only way to reach that point we want to is to outwork everyone and get stronger and mentally tough.”
