The Ethel boys basketball teams took impressive wins over McAdams and Winona this past week, defeating the Bulldogs 72-66 and the Tigers 54-47.
The Tigers and Lady Tigers only have one game this week as they were set to host Coffeeville in a Region 5-1A matchup on Tuesday.
Ethel boys 72,
McAdams 66
D’Ayres Merritt would have a game-high 24 points along with nine rebounds and three steals to lead the Tigers past rival McAdams in a key Region 5-1A matchup.
Daquannay Dotson added 15 points and seven rebounds for Ethel, while D’vontrae Felton chipped in 14 points and Saccario Merritt had 11 points and seven assists for the Tigers.
Ethel boys 54,
Winona 47
Ethel had revenge on its mind after getting thumped by Winona a week ago. Ethel bounced back behind a 17-point performance by Daquannay Dotson to win the all-Tiger matchup.
Akeem Erving added 11 points and five steals for the Tigers, while D’Ayres Merritt chipped in 10 points and seven steals and Izik Stewart had six points, eight rebounds and three block shots for Ethel (9-6, 1-1 Region 5-1A).
McAdams girls 54,
Ethel 39
Aliyah Erving amassed 20 points, seven rebounds and three steals but the Lady Bulldogs were too much for the Lady Tigers in a Region 5-1A matchup.
Chiquita Merritt added 10 points, seven rebounds and five steals for Ethel.
Winona girls 41,
Ethel 32
Takia Miller scored 12 points but Winona would come away with the win in the all Lady Tiger matchup.
Dejah Merritt added seven points, five rebounds and five steals, while Chiquita Merritt had six points and seven rebounds. Aliyah Erving did not play in this game for Ethel (7-8, 1-1 Region 5-1A).
