The Ethel High School Tigers picked up two huge division wins over rival McAdams and Nanih Waiya, while the Lady Tigers lost to McAdams and beat Nanih Waiya.
This week the Tigers (6-10, 5-1 Region 5-1A) and Lady Tigers (8-11, 4-2) will continue Region 5-1A play as they host French Camp on Tuesday and will travel to Noxapater on Friday.
Ethel Boys 79, McAdams 61
Sacarrio Merritt poured in a game-high 31 points along with six rebounds, five assists and five steals as the Tigers ran past the Bulldogs in the Region 5-1A matchup of Attala County rivals.
Izik Stewart added a double-double with 20 points, 22 rebounds and two block shots for the Tigers.
Dominguez Clark chipped in 17 points for Ethel.
Ethel Boys 55, Nanih Waiya 52
Izik Stewart would have yet another double-double as the Tigers were able to hold off the Warriors.
Stewart would have a game-high 22 points, 12 rebounds, five blocked shots and four steals to lead Ethel. Sacarrio Merritt would add 21 points for the Tigers.
McAdams Girls 55, Ethel 50 (OT)
Zakiya Dotson would have 11 points along with seven steals, but the Lady Bulldogs would prevail in overtime in the Region 5-1A matchup.
McAdams outscored Ethel 13-6 in overtime. Brooke Mitchell added 10 points for the Lady Tigers.
Ethel Girls 50, Nanih Waiya 43
Takia Miller would have 10 points as the Lady Tigers would rebound and beat the Lady Warriors.
Zakiya Dotson added nine points for Ethel, while Stavianne Cain chipped in eight points for the Lady Tigers.
