Both Ethel boys and girls would come up short in their two games last week against Sebastopol and Pisgah.
The Tigers (0-2) and the Lady Tigers (0-3) are off this week for Thanksgiving and do not play again until Friday, Dec. 6th in the Sebastopol Tournament. Both teams will play the winner of the Newton County-Union game that Thursday.
In the Tigers’ 66-59 loss to Sebastopol, Izik Stewart had 23 points for Ethel while Sacarrio Merritt added 12 points and Dominguez Clark chipped in nine points.
In Friday night action, the Tigers fell to the Dragons 62-56. Scorers were not available.
GIRLS
Takia Miller had nine points, six steals and had three rebounds to lead the Lady Tigers but it was not enough as the Lady Bobcats would come away with the 41-32 win.
Zakiya Dotson and Stavianne Cain each had five points each for Ethel.
Dotson had 10 points to lead the Lady Tigers in Ethel’s 54-38 loss to Pisgah. Destiny Felton and Miller each had six points for Ethel.
“We are missing entirely too many free throws. We missed 12 against Pisgah and 25 against Sebastopol. In low scoring games those are huge,” said Ethel girls coach Corey Parish. “I have no doubt that this young team will continue to improve, mature and eventually will put together a complete game. The kids are working extremely hard and are determined. I’m extremely proud of their effort early on.”
