The Ethel boys would split their region games last week beating McAdams and falling to West Lowndes, while the Ethel girls would lose both games.
This week the Tigers (8-12) and Lady Tigers (9-14) will compete in the Region 5-1A division tournament being held at McAdams.
The Ethel boys enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed and will have a first-round bye and will play the winner of the Noxapater-French Camp game on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. With receiving the first-round bye means Ethel boys are in the MHSAA Boys Class 1A playoffs.
The Ethel girls will be the No. 3 seed and will face Noxapater on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The winner will face McAdams on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
West Lowndes boys 49, Ethel 44
Sacarrio Merritt would score 20 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Panthers came away with the win.
Izik Stewart added 10 points for the Tigers.
Ethel boys 64, McAdams 60
Sacarrio Merritt had a game-high 24 points along with five steals to lead the Tigers past their county rival Bulldogs in the season finale.
Izik Stewart and Shikell Lowery each added 13 points for the Tigers.
West Lowndes girls 49, Ethel 14
Destiny Felton would score five points to lead the Lady Tigers, but the Lady Panthers were just too much as they remained unbeaten.
McAdams girls 46, Ethel 34
Takia Miller would have 17 points to lead the Lady Tigers, but the Lady Bulldogs would prevail with the win. Zakiya Dotson added nine points for Ethel.
