Let the countdown for the 2019 football season begin.
Ethel has released the 2019 schedule that’ll feature six home games and five away contests.
The Tigers are coming off a 2-8 season and went 2-6 in Region 3-1A in 2018 under first year head coach Dave McCrory.
“We are playing in the Delta region that will have several very athletic teams, so we are excited about it and have several long trips,” McCrory said. “The Delta has some good food, so me and the staff have already started planning where we are eating pre-game meals.”Ethel will open the 2019 season with back-to-back home games opening up with West Lowndes on Aug. 23 and then facing MAIS foe Central Holmes on Aug. 30.
The Tigers will open the month of September with back to back road games at Hamilton on Sept. 6 and will then open Region 3-1A play at rival McAdams on Sept. 13.
Ethel will continue region play hosting West Tallahatchie on Sept. 20 and then Hollandale Simmons on Sept. 27.
In October, Ethel will head to Coffeeville on Oct. 4 and then at Ray Brooks on Oct. 11. The Tigers return home on Oct. 18 to face West Bolivar. Right now, there is an open date on Oct. 25, however McCrory is searching for a game to fill that spot.
In November, the Tigers will head up to Greenwood to face Leflore County on Nov. 1 and then close out the regular season at home on Nov. 8 against Shaw.
“The team can’t wait to start the 2019 season. We’ve already been working hard this offseason and we have got to take this year one week at a time,” McCrory said.
