Two more Central Holmes football players will get to play at least one more game.
Quarterback Nathan Taylor and offensive lineman Addison Ray were each selected to play in the MAIS Class A-AA All-Star football this Friday. The game is scheduled for 3 p.m. and will be played at Jackson Prep.
Central Holmes coach Jim Crowder said Taylor will likely play on the defensive side of the football. Taylor guided the team to a 6-5 record this past season and a home playoff game.
“He’s just a gutsy kid that made plays for us,” Crowder said. “We had to start playing him on defense later in the year. He just made us better on the defensive side of the football. He is just a great teammate and a great team leader. He’s one of those kind of kids that did everything you asked of him. He’s an undersized kid but got everything out of what he had.”
Ray, who comes in at 6-foot-4 ad 260 pounds, will play offensive line in the game.
“He’s a guy that had to play a lot of positions for us this year because of injuries,” Crowder said. “He played center, guard and tackle. He’s one of those really smart kids that you could move wherever you needed him and he would do a good job.”
Crowder said Ray is a player that could play at the next level.
“I don’t know if he will play anywhere or not but I know he could play somewhere,” Crowder said. “I’ve had coaches call and ask about him but I don’t know how interested he is in playing. But he’s definitely a junior college or Division II player if he wanted to be.”
