The Central Holmes Trojans grabbed their first two wins of the season as they swept a doubleheader from Deer Creek last Monday. Central Holmes allowed just three hits in the doubleheader sweep, winning game one 6-0 and game two 4-2.
Central Holmes was scheduled to take on Oak Hill in a three-game series this week, but those games have been postponed. The Trojans will also have to make up a three-game series with Carroll Academy when the season resumes.
Central Holmes 6, Deer Creek 0
The Trojans only gave up one hit as they took a five-inning win over the Warriors in the first game of the doubleheader.
Central Holmes scored two in the first, one in the second and three in the fourth.
Central Holmes had three hits and took advantage of three hits and four walks. Elijah Steen tripled and drove in three runs while Owen O’Bryant singled, walked and scored two runs. Barrett Fondren singled and had two RBIs. Jace Dean, Hudson Haffey, Mason Wiysel and Logan Engle all scored runs for the Trojans. Ashton Tate also had two stolen bases.
Elijah Steen got the start and pitched all five innings, giving up just one hit and walking two while striking out two.
Central Holmes 4, Deer Creek 2
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Trojans scored four runs in the first inning to take a two-run win over the Warriors.
The Trojans scored four in the first while Deer Creek scored its two runs in the fifth.
Central Holmes outhit Deer Creek 4-2 in the five-inning game. Elijah Steen tripled and drove in two runs while Owen O’Bryant and Brad Robinson each singled and scored a run. Jace Dean singled and drove in a run while Barrett Fondren scored a run and had an RBI. Ashton Tate also scored a run for Central Holmes.
Robinson pitched the first two innings and gave up one hit and struck out one while Ellis Harris pitched the next two innings and walked three. Elijah Steen finished the fifth and struck out one.
