Central Holmes baseball coach Ty Dean knew before the beginning of the season that the two-game series with Carroll Academy would have a huge impact on which team made the playoffs.
The two teams were scheduled to play last week, but rain forced both games to be postponed. Now the schools will have to wait until the last week of the season to play the series.
With the games being push back, Dean thinks the delay will help his team.
“The more games we get in, the better off we are going to be,” Dean said. “Because we are so young, I think we will continue to improve as the season goes on. Right now, it’s tough because we haven’t been able to get that much field time. But everybody is in the same shape.”
The Trojans were scheduled to play Deer Creek in a doubleheader on Monday during spring break. The Trojans will then return from spring break and begin district play as they host Oak Hill on Tuesday, March 17 in a varsity doubleheader. Then on Friday, March 20, the Trojans will travel to West Point to take on Oak Hill to finish out the three-game series.
