The Central Holmes Trojans got in two games last week and came away with a pair of district wins.
The Trojans swept Carroll, pounding the Rebels 18-2 and 11-1 in their only action of the week.
Central Holmes was scheduled to host a tournament on Monday and Tuesday before returning for district play next week with Oak Hill. The Trojans will travel to Oak Hill on Tuesday and host the Raiders on Thursday.
Central Holmes 18, Carroll Academy 2
The Trojans fell behind early but used some big innings to take a five-inning, run-rule victory over the Rebels to open district play on Tuesday.
Carroll led 1-0 at the end of the first before Central Holmes scored nine in the third inning. The Trojans added six in the fourth and three in the fifth. Carroll added one more run in the third.
Central Holmes had 14 hits in the contest as Nathan Taylor went 4-for-4 with three runs scored, three RBIs and two stolen bases. Eli Steen was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base. Alex Arnold was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Wes Hudson singled, walked twice, scored two runs and had three RBIs. Josh Haymer signed and drove in three runs while Peyton Killebrew score runs and had two RBIs. Noah Steen scored three runs while Barrett Fondren scored two runs.
Landon Rawson pitched all five innings and gave up two runs on one hit and six walks while striking out 11.
Central Holmes 11, Carroll 1
The Trojans struck early and scored in every inning as they took a five-inning, run-rule win over the Rebels on Thursday.
Central Holmes scored six in the first with single runs in the second, third and fifth inning and two in the fourth. Carroll scored one in the fourth.
Central Holmes had six hits and took advantage of five errors and three walks.
Nathan Taylor was 2-for-4 and scored a run while Eli Steen singles, scored two runs and drove in two runs. Alex Arnold doubled and scored three runs whileBarrett Fondren singles and drove in two runs. Wes Hudson also had two walks while Luke Smith scored twice. Noah Steen and Smith each had two stolen bases while Peyton Killebrew was hit by a pitch twice.
Hudson was solid on the mound as he pitched all five innings, giving up one run on two hits and three walks while striking out six.
