The Central Holmes Christian School Trojans will have a full schedule this season with 11 games on the slate, including two against public school foes.
The Trojans, in their second season under coach Jim Crowder, will open the season on Aug. 16 as they host Park Place from Pearl. The Crusaders were 4-7 last year.
After Park Place, the Trojans will begin a two-game road stretch where they travel to East Rankin. The Patriots were 1-10 last year playing a Class AAAA schedule. After East Rankin, the Trojans will play at MHSAA foe Ethel on Aug. 30. The Tigers were 2-8 last year under first-year coach Dave McCrory and broke a lengthy losing streak last year.
The Trojans will then open September with a pair of early season district contests. The first will be against rival Winona Christina on Sept. 6. The Stars were 8-4 last year and used a 20-12 win over Central Holmes as a springboard to the district championship.
The Trojans will then get another stiff test on Sept. 13 as they take on Indianola, who is dropping down in class. The Colonels were 13-2 last year and lost to Adams County Christian in the Class AAA championship game last year.
After the two district contests, the Trojans will then hit the road for two games against two teams that were winless last year. The first is a Sept. 20 contest at J.Z. George at North Carrollton. The Jaguars were 0-11 last year. The second game in that stretch is a Sept. 27 district contest at Benton Academy. The Raiders were 0-10 last year.
On Oct. 4, the Trojans get another team that was winless last year as they host Hillcrest Christian, who was 0-10 last year and only scored 23 points.
On Oct. 11, the Trojans will then get a state champion as the host Tunica Academy. The Blue Devils were 12-0 last year.
After Tunica, the Trojans will travel to West Point to take on former district foe Oak Hill. The Raiders were 5-7 last year and lost 24-7 to the Trojans last year.
The Trojans will then close out the regular season on Oct. 25 at rival Carroll Academy. The Rebels were 7-4 last year and beat the Trojans 28-27 in the regular-season finale for both teams.
