After getting off to a slow start to the season, the Central Holmes Lady Trojans may have turned the season around last week.
The Lady Trojans won all three games last week, as they beat Washington 44-37 and Tri-County 52-44 before beating Carroll 51-37 to open district play.
Central Holmes will be off until after Christmas when they travel to the Manchester Tournament on Thursday, Dec. 26 and Friday, Dec. 27.
Central Holmes girls 51, Carroll 37
The Lady Trojans used a big second period to propel them to a 14-point win over the Lady Rebels.
Each team scored six points in the first period before Central Holmes outscored Carroll 21-8 in the second to lead 27-14 at the half. Central Holmes took the third period 12-10 to lead 39-24 going into the fourth.
Makaylee Polk led Central Holmes with 25 points.
Carroll boys 59, Central Holmes 23
The Rebels overcame a slow start and took a 36-point win over the Trojans in another district contest.
Carroll led 9-2 at the end of the first and outscored Central Holmes 18-7 in the second to take a 27-9 lead at the half. The Rebels kept rolling in the third as they outscored the Trojans 23-9 in the third and 9-5 in the fourth.
Lawrence Wiley led Central Holmes with nine points while C.J. Head had five points.
Logan Taylor led Carroll with 24 points and nine rebounds while Reese Fulton had another double-double with 16 points and 17 rebounds for Carroll.
Central Holmes girls 44, Washington 37
The Lady Trojans pulled away in the second half to take a seven-point win over the Lady Generals.
After each team scored seven points in the first, Central Holmes took the second period 11-9 to lead 18-16 at the half. Makaylee Polk led Central Holmes with 24 points.
Central Holmes boys 42, Washington 39
The Generals forced overtime but the Trojans came away with the three-point win.
Central Holmes led 12-8 at the end of the first and 19-14 at the half. Washing outscored Central Holmes 9-8 in the third and 14-10 in the fourth to send the game into overtime where the Trojans used a 5-2 advantage to take the win.
Lawrence Wiley led Central Holmes with 17 points while C.J. Head added nine points.
Central Holmes girls 52, Tri-County 44
The Lady Trojans started early and went on to take an eight-point win.
Central Holmes led 17-7 at the end of the first and outscored Tri-County 22-17 in the second to lead 39-24 at the half. Tri-County cut into the lead in the second half, outscoring Central Holmes 6-5 in the third and 14-8 in the fourth.
Makaylee Polk led Central Holmes with 21 points while Breann Bell added 19 points.
Tri-County boys 51, Central Holmes 46
The Rebels overcame an early deficit and took a five-point win over the Trojans.
Central Holmes jumped out to a 20-12 lead at the end of the first but Tri-County outscored the Trojans 19-9 to take a 31-29 lead at the half. Central Holmes tied the game at 40-40 at the end of the third but Tri-County outscored Central Holmes 11-6 in the fourth to take the win.
Lawrence Wiley led Central Holmes with 12 points while C.J. Head had 11 points and Jace Dean added seven.
