After receiving notification of a second case of COVID-19 in students at Ethel High School, Attala County Superintendent Kyle Hammond said Homecoming festivities this week will be postponed.
A Homecoming parade in downtown Ethel was slated for Thursday evening and presentation of the Homecoming Court was planned to occur during Friday night's home game. Both events have now been postponed.
But Friday night's game is currently expected to go on as planned.
According to EHS Principal Culley Newman, no one involved in the football program has tested positive and a team practice was held this afternoon.
"As of 6:26 p.m. today, we are playing the game, but that is subject to change," he told The Star-Herald.
Hammond, however, said no final decision has been on whether Friday night's game will go forward or not.
