Locals share fond memories of Leonard's

The recent demolition of Leonard’s Department Store on the south side of the historic courthouse square has brought forth many memories of the more than 100-year-old building.

Plans were underway for the building to house the Mississippi Native American Museum when the structure collapsed, necessitating its removal.

Attala School Board handle personnel matters

Supt. Bryan Weaver reported that “everything went well” on Monday with students reporting for the first day of the 2018-2019 school term.

At the Monday night meeting of the board of trustees, certified and non-certified positions along with approval of bus drivers were completed for the year.

KHS student nominated for national award

Kosciusko High School student James Hunter Kittrell, 15, has been named winner of the American Legion Auxiliary Youth Hero and Award by Philadelphia Unit 138, Mississippi Department and is in competition for the national Youth Hero Award with the winner to be named Aug. 27.
