It was a busy week for the Ethel softball team with five contests.
The Lady Tigers lost 8-3 to Kosciusko but bounced back to take a 14-0 win over French Camp on Tuesday.
On Thursday, the Lady Tigers took a 2-1 win over Houston and finished with a 4-3 loss to Morton on Friday and a 7-2 win over Eupora.
Kosciusko 8, Ethel 3
The Lady Tigers lost by five to the defending 4A champions on Monday.
Kosciusko outhit Ethel 11-6. Emily Mitchell was 2-for-3 with an RBI while Karli Fortenberry was 2-for-3 with a double. Brooke Mitchell also ginned and scored.
Elana White started in the circle and pitched 1 2/3 innings, giving up six runs on four hits and two walks. Brooke Mitchell pitched the last 5 1/3 innings and gave up two runs on five hits.
Ethel 14, French Camp 0
The Lady Tigers scored in four of the five innings and took a run-rule win on Tuesday.
Ethel scored four runs in the first inning and then one in the third to go up 5-0. The Lady Tigers then scored five in the fourth and four in the fifth to finish out the win,
Ethel outhit French Camp 12-2 on the season. Riley Arrowhead doubled for French Camp’s only hit while Rowan Baxter also singled.
Brainy Rone was 4-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and three runs scored for Ethel. Karli Fortenberry was 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored. Elena White singled and scored three runs while Emily Mitchell and Macee Sisson each scored two runs apiece.
White pitched all five innings for Ethel to pick up the win, giving up two hits while striking out eight.
Jullian Skidmore started in the circle for French Camp and pitched all five innings, giving up 14 runs on 12 hits and eight walks while striking out two.
Ethel 2, Houston 1
The Lady Tigers got a big win over the Lady Hilltoppers on Thursday.
Houston scored one in the third while Ethel scored two in the sixth to take the win.
Ethel only had two hits as Karli Fortenberry singled and drive in two runs. Meredith Moudy doubled and scored a run while Brooke Mitchell walked twice and scored Ethel’s other run.
Mitchell pitched all seven innings and gave up one unearned run on six hits and one walk while striking out one.
Morton 4, Ethel 3
The Lady Tigers fell just short in a one-run loss to the Lady Panthers on Friday.
Morton scored one in the first and Ethel scored one in the fifth to tie the game. In the eighth, Morton scored three in the top of the frame while Ethel scored two in the bottom of the frame for the final score.
Ethel 7, Eupora 2
The Lady Tigers rallied to take a five-run win over the Lady Eagles.
Eupora scored two in the second before Ethel scored one in the fourth, three in the fifth and sixth inning to take the win.
Ethel had six hits in the contest as Brooke Mitchell was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Hadlee Fancher singled, scored twice and had two RBIs while Karli Fortenberry doubled and drove in two runs. Brainy Rone also singled and drive in three runs for the Lady Tigers. Emily Mitchell also doubled for Ethel.
Elena White pitched all seven innings and gave up two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four.
