Whippets take first regional matchup of season

Parker Ryals led Kosciusko to an 8-2 victory over Choctaw Central in the Whippets' first Region 4-4A game. He pitched a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts and also contributed a three-run double when Kosciusko broke the game open with four runs in the seventh.

McAdams girls finished first and boys second at South State powerlifting meets, the 1A meet for boys and Class I (1A and 2A schools) meet for girls. Both teams qualified seven lifters for the state meet.

Ethel boys were third and girls fifth. Boys have five qualifiers and the girls three.

Ethel bats were hotter than the 80-degree day

On a beautiful late winter day in Pelahatchie, MS, Ethel's bats were hotter than the 80-degree weather. The Tigers had 12 hits — including three home runs — in a 17-3 victory over Pelahatchie. The game lasted only four innings.
