The Southern Miss Golden Eagles swept Louisiana Tech over the weekend to improve to 10-1 on the season. The Sunday win over Tech gave Golden Eagles head coach Christian Ostrander his 100th win at USM. Coach Oz reached 100 wins in only 137 games, which is the fastest in school history. USM will host Mississippi State on Tuesday and Nicholls State on Wednesday before North Alabama visits Friday-Sunday.

Holmes to host Electrical Lineman informational meeting in Kosciusko
KOSCIUSKO — Holmes Community College Workforce will host an Electrical Lineman informational meeting for individuals interested in enrolling in the August class on Thursday, March 19, at 5 p.m. at The Attala Center.
The meeting is mandatory for prospective students and will be held at The Attala Center, located at 620 W. Jefferson St. in Kosciusko.

Few shrubs say “spring in Mississippi” quite like azaleas, and mine are getting ready to burst with blooms.
Azaleas thrive here so well that some gardeners get the impression you can simply stick them in the ground and walk away. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
Azaleas are well adapted to our climate, but they still have some very specific needs if you want them to look their best year after year.
First and foremost, azaleas must have excellent drainage.

STARKVILLE, Miss.—Faculty at Mississippi State University are continuing groundbreaking work at the intersection of mathematics, statistics and climate science with the publication of a new peer-reviewed study examining regional snow cover trends across the Northern Hemisphere. The results suggest shrinking snow coverage as well as seasonal shifts for when the wintry layer comes and goes.

An excellent medical column in The Washington Post predicts the next target in Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s anti-vaccine campaign. At the same time, the column debunks the claim that this target is hazardous to children’s health.
Dr. Leana S. Wen, an emergency physician and clinical associate professor at George Washington University, believes Kennedy, the Health and Human Services secretary, may seek the removal of “aluminum salts” from vaccines. He claims this ingredient can cause conditions from autism to asthma to food allergies.
