It's on to the 4A state match for the Kosciusko golf team after a second place finish at the Region 4-4A tournament. The 36-hole state match is scheduled for May 2 and 3 at Pontotoc Country Club.
Defending state champion West Lauderdale won the region match at Dancing Rabbit with a team score of 303. Kosciusko was next with 336, two strokes better than Choctaw Central. Northeast Lauderdale shot 509. Leake Central did not have a team score with only three golfers and Louisville does not have a golf team.
Jeremy Gibson led Kosciusko with 79. Josh Gibson had 82, Karson Rutherford 87, Eli Kemp and Jon Gant each 88 and Robert Pickle 97.
Team score is the total of the four best rounds
There will be plenty of practice time prior to the state match. “We're trying to get better everyday,” said coach Wylie Rhodes.
