Kosciusko split its first two baseball games of the season, a 6-3 loss to Ridgeland and a 3-2 victory over Neshoba Central.
The Whippets received strong pitching from Ty Ramage and Landon Wallace in the win over Neshoba Central. Ramage went the first four innings, allowing two hits and no earned runs, with nine strikeouts and one walk. Wallace finished up with three scoreless and hitlss innings, three strikeouts and one walk.
“They both threw very well,” said coach Cole McBride. “They minimized their pitches, had some strikeouts and some grounders.”
After Neshoba Central took a 2-1 lead with two unearned runs in the third, Payton Odom had the big hit, a two-run double in the fourth.
Against Ridgeland, Ramage had a homer, Bennie Powell doubled and scored a run and Aiden Howard had two RBIs.
The Whippet played Ethel Tuesday and have home games Thursday and Friday with Starkville and Pearl.
