The Ethel Tigers had a busy week on the baseball diamond, winning three out of four contests.
The Tigers swept a doubleheader from Leake County, winning 22-0 and 19-0 without giving up a hit. The Tigers then fell 2-1 to Eupora on Thursday and bounced back to beat Nanih Waiya 13-4 on Saturday.
Ethel 22, Leake County 0
The Tigers took four innings to take a blowout win over the Gators in division play on Tuesday in the first game of a doubleheader.
Ethel scored seven in the first, four in the second, one in the third and 10 in the fourth.
Ethel had just five hits and took advantage of 11 walks, nine errors and seven hit batters. Kadan Adams was 2-for-2 with two walks and three runs scored while Gabe Cain doubled, scored four runs and had two RBIs. Wes Bishop also doubled and scored two runs while Brady White walked twice, scored two runs and had two RBIs. Ryan Burrell walked three times and scored twice while Ethan Bishop scored twice.
Eli Ramage started on the mound and didn’t give up a hit in four innings and walked just one while striking out eight.
Ethel 19, Leake County 0
The Tigers didn’t allow a hit in the second game of the doubleheader as they took a three-inning, run-rule win over the Gators on Tuesday.
Ethel scored 11 runs in the first, three in the second and five in the third.
Ethel had 12 hits, drew six walks and took advantage of five errors. Brady White was 2-for-2 with two triples, two runs scored and three RBIs while Colin White was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Kameron Fortenberry was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Wes Jolly and Wes Bishop also had doubles for Ethel while Eli Ramage, Bishop and Kadan Adams all scored twice.
Brady White started on the mound and pitched all three innings and didn’t give up a hit or walk while striking out eight. White threw 33 pitches and 29 strikes, facing the minimum in a perfect effort.
Eupora 2, Ethel 1
The Tigers fell short in a pitching contest against the Eagles on Thursday.
The game was scoreless the first five innings before Eupora scored two in the bottom of the sixth. Ethel scratched one run in the top of the seventh for the final margin.
Ethel had just two hits as Gabe Cain singled and scored a run. Ethan Bishop also singled and drove in Cain.
Collin White pitched five innings and gave up just one hit while striking out six. Hunter Hutchison pitched 2/3 of an inning and gave up two unearned runs on two hits and one walk. Kadan Adams got the last out on a strikeout.
Ethel 13, Nanih Waiya 4
The Tigers used a big seventh inning and took a nine-run win over the Warriors on Saturday.
Ethel scored three in the third and one in the fifth and led 5-0. Nanih Waiya scored one in the sixth before Ethel scored eight in the seventh. Nanih Waiya finished with three in the bottom of the seventh.
Ethel had eight hits and drew five walks and took advantage of six errors. Colin White was 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Kameron Fortenberry was 2-for-3 while Wes Bishop tripled, scored three runs and had three RBIs. Gabe Cain and Lukas Gowan also scored two runs apiece.
Kaden Adams started on the mound and pitched three innings, giving up just one hit while striking out two. Bishop pitched the next three innings and gave up one unearned run on two hits while striking out five. Brady White pitched the last inning and gave up three runs on two hits.
