The design submitted by Courtney Blaine for the Natchez Trace Festival poster and T-shirt is in keeping with the 50th anniversary of the annual event scheduled for April 27.
Her entry was selected from community votes collected by the Kosciusko-Attala Partnership (KAP). Ten contestants participated in seeking the $100 reward for the winning design.
Courtney said after about two weeks of deliberating on entering the contest, it took only about three hours to complete her design. Having attended the festival from childhood, Courtney said her design reflects what she remembers.
She said the bold lettering denoting the milestone, the courthouse as the central area of activity, musical notes indicative of performers and footprints representing the Natchez Trace Run, sums up the event.
Courtney is a graduate of Ackerman High School and the Ridgeland campus of Holmes Community College, where she studied business and marketing.
She works at Sullivan’s Drugs and Gifts.
