The Attala County Board of Supervisors signed an agreement with the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) for the repair or replacement of four bridges in the county.
County Engineer Christian Gardner presented the MDOT agreement to supervisors at the Monday meeting.
Four of the 10 bridges submitted by supervisors for funding through the $250 million State Emergency Reconstruction Bridge Repair Fund were approved. They are Bridge 179 on Highway 407, McCool, $1,596,580; Bridge 160, Attala Road 2120, $648,628.75; Bridges 10 and 11, Attala Road 4002, $1,658,625.
The Mississippi Transportation Commission announced the funding for the Emergency Road and Bridge Repair in January. The board of supervisors will advertise for bids on construction of the bridges approved in the project.
During a bid opening Belinda Stewart and Associates, an architectural firm in Eupora, was awarded the bid for preparation of the plans for repair and updating of the Attala County Courthouse.
Following the meeting, an auction of used equipment was held with top bid of $28,000 going to Joe Don Baker of Louisville.
The board gave its approval of an auction to be held in two weeks to sell appliances at the jail and the RSVP building.
The board voted to advertise for bids on lawn maintenance of the grounds of the courthouse, and for grass cutting at the Brinkman building also known as Jack Post.
In other action, the board made annual appropriations including mental health, health department, city and parks recreation the airport and others.
