Kosciusko wrapped up spring football with a 14-6 victory over Columbus. The Whippet touchdowns came on passes from Caden Greer to Jaquavous Pace and Tyran Mosley.
The teams played two quarters at a jamboree hosted by Kosciusko.
“We had some bright spots on both sides of the ball,” said coach Casey Orr. “We played a fairly clean game for it to be a spring game. We had some big plays offensively. I thought our line blocked well. We had some success running the ball.”
Defensively, the Whippets didn't tackle particularly well, which Orr attributed to not having played a game since the fall.
“Nobody was injured and we got some guys more experience.”
Orr said freshman Keith Lay played well on both sides of the ball as an H-back and an outside linebacker. Eli Kemp had an interception that sealed the win. He returned it for TD, nullified by a block in the back.
The varsity game was followed by a junior varsity game for one quarter and Orr was pleased with the showing.
“It's very elementary in that game. You see that the young guys are lined up right and know what they are doing. What is their assignment is, what the play is. They executed well for JV game.”
