The McAdams Bulldogs (1-2) got in the win columns this week with a 54-6 trouncing of the Montgomery County Hornets (0-3).
The Bulldogs scored first on a blocked punt, scoop-and-score by Mark Stewart to go up 6-0 on the homestanding Hornets. The Bulldogs quickly regained possession and marched 63 yards and scored on an 11-yard run by Stewart, his second touchdown of the night. The Bulldogs scored on the 2-point run to go up 14-0 on Montgomery County. The Bulldogs capped their first quarter scoring on another Stewart touchdown run and led 20-0.
Early in the second quarter Zy’Tavia Ball scored on a two-yard run, conversion failed, to take a 26-0 lead over Montgomery County. The Bulldogs quickly regained possession after a John Bayne interception near the Bulldogs’ 39-yard line. One play later, Ball found Kris Brown with a 61-yard strike to increase the Bulldog lead to 32-0.
Ball ran one in again and also ran in the two-point conversion to give the Bulldogs a 40-0 lead early in the third quarter.
He then picked off a Hornet pass and raced 40 yards for another score to push the McAdams lead to 46-0.
The Bulldogs capped their scoring mid-way through the fourth quarter when Ball scored again on an easy run that was set up by a John Bayne 41-yard reception one play earlier to cap the scoring at 54 for the Bulldogs after another successful two-point play.
The Hornets added a score late in the contest to push the final to 54-6 giving the Bulldogs their first win on the year and sending them to 1-0 in Region 3-1A play.
The Bulldogs are on the road this Friday night when they take on Riverside at 7 p.m.
