The McAdams Bulldogs (2-6, 2-3) traveled to Durant (1-7, 1-4) last Friday night and defeated the homestanding Tigers 28-19.
The Tigers found pay dirt first after a first quarter score and led 7-0 to start the second quarter. The Bulldogs got on the board early in the second quarter on a 23-yard touchdown strike thrown by quarterback Zy’Tavia Ball to Kristopher Brown, two-point run unsuccessful, to push the score to 7-6. The Tigers scored to go up on the Bulldogs 13-6 and were poised on their next drive to score again.
The Bulldogs did not let that happen when Brown stepped in front of a Durant pass and returned it 58 yards for a touchdown to give McAdams a 14-13 lead going into the half after Brown caught the two-point pass from Ball. Ball scored once more for the Bulldogs on a 2-yard run, run failed, to increase the Bulldog lead to 20-13. The Tigers cut into the Bulldog lead near the end of the third quarter but missed the extra point and still trailed McAdams 20-19.
Stewart added the final touchdown and two-point run for the Bulldogs to push the final margin of victory over the Tigers to 28-19. This was the first Bulldog win in the series in at least 30 years.
“I am really happy that the players were able to provide the community with this win,” said Bulldog head coach Priest Crockett. “The community, staff and administrators were all a part of this win.”
