The Kosciusko Whippets (3-2) defeated Ridgeland 8-3 last Tuesday night and fell 5-3 to West Point on Saturday.
In last Tuesday night’s win over the Ridgeland Titans, Michah Parker got the start and win for the Whippets by allowing one run on two
hits while walking none. Nolen Yuille came on in relief and pitched 1.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out one. El’ Darius Roby pitched 3.1 innings and allowed one run on no hits and no walks while striking out three. The offensive leaders for the Whippets were Clark Dean with a single, one run scored and one RBI; Logan Fancher with three singles, two runs scored and one RBI; Brandon Black with a single; Jon Deason with an RBI; Chase Morgan with a double and three RBI; Justin Nunn with a single, one run scored and one RBI; Parker with a single and one run scored; Will Cook with one run scored; Ethan Gowan with a double and one run scored; River Burrell with one run scored and Walker Yuille with a double and an RBI.
In Kosy’s 6-4 loss to West Point, Nolen Yuille, Deason, Morgan, Parker and Walker Yuille all toed the rubber. Nolen Yuille pitched 1.1 innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out one; Deason pitched one inning, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk; Morgan pitched 2.2 innings, yielding no runs on three hits with three strikeouts and Walker Yuille, who pitched 1.1 innings, allowing no runs on no hits while striking out two.
The offensive leaders for the Whippets were Dean with an RBI; Fancher with an RBI; Black with a single; Morgan with a single and one run scored; Nunn with one run scored; Parker with two singles; Lucas Price with one run scored and Gowan with a double, one run scored and one RBI.
The Whippets traveled to Leake Central on Tuesday and will play them once again in Kosciusko on Friday at 7 p.m. The Whippets will then host Morton on Saturday at 1 p.m.
