The Kosciusko Whippets and Lady Whippets ended the regular season this past week with both falling to Leake Central on the road last Tuesday and with the Whippets defeating Germantown on Friday. The Whippets moved to 19-8 overall with a 5-5 record in Region 4-4A play while the Lady Whippets dropped to 15-12 overall and 5-5 in region play.
In last Tuesday night’s contest with the Leake Central Gators the Whippets lost 79-66 and the Lady Whippets fell as well, 58-52. The leaders for the Whippets were Johnny Forrest with 34 points and six rebounds and Jaquan Williams with 12 points, six boards, three assists and three steals. The leaders for the Lady Whippets were Feria Mays with 17 points, seven boards and four steals and Sarnia Veasy with four points, eight boards and three steals.
The Whippets rebounded on Friday night with a 79-66 win over Germantown while the Lady Whippets lost 45-37. The leaders for the Whippets were Stefan Harmon with 20 points and 10 rebounds; Forrest with 14 points, six rebounds and five assists; Terry Skinner with 13 points and five rebounds and Williams with 10 points, 10 boards and four assists. The leaders for the Lady Whippets were Mays with 16 points and six boards.
The Lady Whippets began round one of Region 4 Tournament play on Tuesday against Noxubee while the Whippets played Caledonia. Games will resume on Thursday night at Kosciusko High School.
