The Kosciusko fast-pitch softball team remained undefeated with a pair of victories last week, and the Lady Whippets did so in convincing fashion.
Kosy blanked traditional power New Hope 7-0 on Thursday, then whipped Winona 14-0 on Friday.
Those two victories lifted the Lady Whippets to 12-0 heading into this week, when they were to visit Louisville on Tuesday. Thursday,
Kosciusko is scheduled to go to Leake Central, and on Friday the Lady Whippets are slated to host Northwest Rankin in a doubleheader.
Next week, Kosy is slated to go to Caledonia on Monday (April 2), visit New Hope on Thursday (April 5) and go to Senatobia for a doubleheader on Saturday (April 7).
Last Thursday, the Lady Whippets blanked New Hope 7-0 behind a stellar performance in the circle from Katie Mitchell. She went the distance for a complete-game shutout, striking out eight and allowing just three hits.
Her teammates backed her with nine hits, including a pair of hits and three RBIs apiece from Abigail Myers and AnnaLeigh Jones.
Kelly Hood singled and scored; Brooke Mitchell scored a pair of runs; Gabbie Kelley drove in a run; Josie Meggs scored once.
On Friday, the Lady Whippets got another shutout as Gilmore blanked Winona. She went four innings and gave up three hits, striking out four.
This time, Kosciusko banged out 15 base hits, including five extra-base hits.
Meggs doubled, singled twice, scored twice and drove in three runs while Katie Mitchell had three singles, two runs and two RBIs.
Hood singled, tripled, scored three runs and drove in one and Sarah Caroline Henderson singled, doubled, scored twice and drove in one.
Gilmore tripled, drove in three runs and scored and Emma Rush doubled, scored and drove in a run.
Jones had a pair of hits and two RBIs; McCown singled and scored; Brooke Mitchell scored once; and Myers scored once.
