The Kosciusko Lady Whippet fastpitch team hosted a tournament last Tuesday and picked up two wins over Pontotoc and Bogue Chitto to improve to 6-3 overall.
In the Lady Whippets’ 10-4 win over Pontotoc, Katie Mitchell got the start and win allowing four runs on four hits while striking out four. The offensive leaders for the Lady Whippets were Kelly Hood with a single and one run scored; Josie Meggs with two singles and two runs scored; Madeline McCown with a double, triple, two runs scored and four RBI; Audrey Claire (AC) Henderson with a single; Mitchell with a single; Sarah Caroline Henderson with a single; Makenzie Ryals with a single; Maddy Gilmore with a run scored; Emma Rush with a run scored and AnnaLeigh Jones with a run scored.
The Lady Whippets shut out Bogue Chitto behind the arm of Katie Lawrence, who surrendered just one hit while striking out nine. The offensive leaders for the Lady Whippets were Hood with a double; Mitchell with a double and a triple; Gilmore with a single and one run scored; Melissa Gowan with two singles and two runs scored; AC Henderson with two singles and one run scored; Meggs with one run scored and Gabbie Kelley with one run scored.
The Lady Whippets traveled to Caledonia on Tuesday night for a Region 4-4A contest and will host Caledonia on Thursday night at 5 p.m. before traveling to Lake on Friday for a 5:30 p.m. contest and then on to Madison Central on Saturday for an 11 a.m. contest.
