The Kosciusko Whippets moved to 7-1 on the year after defeating Ethel and Choctaw County last week by scores of 49-43 and 37-34 respectively before picking up their first loss at West Lauderdale earlier in the week, falling 47-44. The Lady Whippets fell to 3-5 overall with losses to Choctaw County and West Lauderdale, falling to the Lady Chargers 54-32 and then the Lady Knights 44-39.
In the West Lauderdale loss, the leaders for the Whippets were Devonte Grove with 14 points and eight rebounds and Calvin Banks with 11 points, three steals and four rebounds.
The leaders for the Lady Whippets in their 44-39 loss to West Lauderdale were Kenyatta Allen with 10 points and seven rebounds; Samia Veasy with 10 points and four steals; Katie Mitchell with eight points and two steals; Diamond Rayford with six points and three steals.
The leaders for the Whippets in their 37-34 win over Choctaw County were Terry Skinner with 11 points, two steals and three rebounds and Calvin Banks with nine points, seven rebounds and three steals.
The leaders for the Lady Whippets in their 54-32 loss to Choctaw County were Tylinda Boyd with 10 points and five rebounds and Ameria Riley with seven points, two steals and eight rebounds.
In Friday night’s 49-43 win over the Ethel Tigers, Antonio Harmon scored 12 points and grabbed six boards while skinner scored 11 and had two steals; JaQuan Williams had eight points and five assists; Ocorya Forrest had eight points and two steals and Logan Fancher had six points and four rebounds.
The Whippets will travel to Walnut Grove next Tuesday night to take on the Leake County Gators at 6 p.m. and will travel to Kilmichael the following Friday to play Montgomery County at 6 p.m.
