The Lady Tigers lost twice during spring break and picked up a win over Yazoo County on Monday night to move their record to 5-3 overall on the season. The Lady Tigers’ losses during the break came at the hands of Bogue Chitto by a score of 6-4 and to Morton by a score of 4-1 last Tuesday in the Kosciusko Invitational Tournament.
In the first loss of the tournament to Morton there were no stats available at press time.
In the Lady Tiger loss to Morton, Jessica Mitchell got the start, striking out five and walking none. The offensive leaders for the Lady Tigers were Avery Bouchillon with a single; Mitchell with a single; Madison Odom with a single; Brooklyn Pitt with a single; Aubrianna McBride with a single and Jaidyn Sims with a run scored.
The Lady Tigers got back into the win column on Monday night, defeating the Yazoo County Lady Panthers 15-4 behind the pitching of Kambrie Hodges and Mitchell and a strong offensive outburst. Hodges pitched five innings, walking four and striking out eight while Mitchell pitched two innings, fanning two Lady Panthers.
The offensive leaders for the Lady Tigers were Breanna Blaine with two singles and two RBI; Mitchell with a single and an RBI; Bouchillon with a single; Odom with two singles and two RBI; Pitt with a single and two RBI; Carlye Pender with a single and two RBI; Sidney Rone with an RBI; Hodges with an RBI.
The Lady Tigers host Leake County on Thursday at 5 p.m. and will travel to Sebastopol on Monday night for a 5 p.m. contest as well.
