The Ethel Lady Tigers improved their overall record to 19-2 on the year with a 7-0 win over rival French Camp on Monday night and more importantly, a region win that put them just one win away from their seventh consecutive region championship in slowpitch softball.
Against Leake Central last Monday night, the Lady Tigers pounded out 15 hits with three home runs. Avery Bouchillon led with two home runs and Brooklyn Pitt connected for the other one. Sidney Rone, Jessica Mitchell and Halea Wood all had multiple hits for the Lady Tigers while Carlye Pender, Madison Odom, Breanna Blaine and Erin Watkins all had hits in the game as well. The Lady Tigers made short work of the Lady Gators en route to a 15-5 win.
In the French Camp contest on Monday night the hits were not easy to come by for the Lady Tigers because the Lady Panthers kept the game close with several good catches in the outfield. But in the end, the Lady Tigers were just too much with solid defense and precision pitching in the 7-0 win. Mitchell and Pitt each had a double while Rone, Clarissa Smith and Pender all had singles in the game.
The Lady Tigers will play French Camp once again on Thursday night and will honor the seniors in this last regular season home contest at 5 p.m.
The Lady Tigers will finish up the regular season with a trip to Winona on Saturday before heading into the playoffs next Tuesday night.
