The Ethel Lady Tigers moved to 4-2 on the year after wins over Nanih Waiya and JZ George last week while the Tigers fell to 3-2 overall. The Lady Tigers defeated the Nanih Waiya Lady Warriors 28-16 last Tuesday night and defeated JZ George 55-33 on Friday.
In last Tuesday night’s contest against the Lady Warriors, the Lady Whippets took a 7-4 lead after one quarter of play and led 13-11 at the half.
Both teams stayed even in the third quarter by scoring five points apiece before the Lady Tigers pulled away with a 10-0 fourth quarter, winning the contest 28-16.
The leaders for the Lady Tigers were Akilah Erving with 14 points; Carlye Pender with five points and Dotty Townsend with nine points.
In Friday night’s 55-33 win over JZ George, the Lady Tigers fell behind 12-8 after one quarter of play before taking a 22-17 lead into the intermission.
Both teams scored 12 in the third quarter before the Lady Tigers pulled away, outscoring JZ George 21-4 in the final quarter to take the 22-point win.
The leaders for the Lady Tigers were Chiquitta Merritt with 13 points; Erving with 35 points and Pender with four points.
Ethel hosted Montgomery County on Tuesday night and will host the Ethel Invitational on Thursday and Friday night.
